The problem

Why can a UPS invoice differ from the label?

A UPS invoice can differ from the label because UPS bills the parcel it measured, not only the details typed at label time. Size weight, later charges and the choice of carrier are separate questions from the rate card.

Carriers bill the weight and size they measure

A parcel has a scale weight and a size weight. Carriers often bill the greater of the two. For many road services the size weight is length times width times height in centimetres, divided by 5,000. On that example a 45 by 30 by 16 cm box counts as 4.3 kg. The divisor is not universal. Check your own UPS tariff.

Some charges appear after the sale

Fuel, peak periods, address correction and unusual parcel size can land on the invoice after checkout. Names and amounts depend on the contract. Zineps does not publish those amounts as rates.

UPS is not the right carrier for every parcel

UPS can be the right choice for parcels to other countries, express or heavier shipments, and still be the expensive choice for a light parcel inside the Netherlands. Rules exist so the first carrier you connected is not the only one that ships.

Where you are today

Who is UPS shipping software for?

Zineps UPS shipping software is for webshops in the Netherlands and Belgium that already ship with UPS, and for shops that want to add UPS beside PostNL, DHL, DPD, GLS, FedEx or Bpost.

Adding UPS

You want UPS beside the carrier you already use

PostNL, DHL or another carrier already works. You want UPS for routes where it earns a place, without a second packing workflow.

  • Bring your own UPS contract
  • Import orders from the shops you already sell on
  • Write a rule for one route, such as France or parcels over a weight you choose
See this setup

Already shipping with UPS

UPS is in place and the rest of the work is scattered

The contract works. Labels, tracking and returns still live in more than one tool. Zineps puts order import, rules, labels, tracking updates and the returns portal in one queue.

  • Labels from the UPS contract you already have
  • Tracking updates on the same page as your other carriers
  • Box presets, held labels, Access Point and invoice comparison are reviewed on a demo

What you get

What can Zineps do with UPS today?

Today Zineps imports orders, applies carrier rules, creates labels on your own UPS contract, sends tracking updates and keeps a returns portal. Anything beyond that list is reviewed on a demo for your setup.

Orders from the shops you already use

Shopify, WooCommerce, bol.com and Amazon orders arrive in one list with the address and weight attached. The tracking number goes back to the shop.

Labels on your own UPS contract

Connect the UPS account you already have and create labels from the order queue. Service, reference and customs data come from the order. If you do not have a contract yet, ask on a demo about an introduction to a logistics partner.

Carrier rules, with UPS in the mix

Decide once which parcels use UPS and which use PostNL, DHL, DPD, GLS, FedEx or Bpost. Zineps applies that rule when the order is imported.

Tracking updates for UPS and the rest

UPS scan events are mapped to the same statuses as your other carriers, on one tracking page. Customers see the update without a separate carrier portal.

Returns portal in the same place

Customers start a return in your portal, a prepaid label is created with the carrier that fits, and the return shows up next to outbound shipments. UPS can be that carrier where it fits.

Reviewed on a demo, not listed as live

Box presets, a label held when the box size is missing, Access Point passthrough, and a report that compares the label estimate with the UPS invoice are reviewed on a demo for your contract and country.

Getting started

How does shipping with UPS work in Zineps?

Shipping with UPS in Zineps starts when an order arrives from Shopify, WooCommerce, bol.com or Amazon. The platform applies your carrier rules, creates the label on your own UPS contract and writes the tracking update back to the shop and the customer.

  1. 01

    Connect your shops

Shopify, WooCommerce, bol.com, Amazon or your own system. Orders arrive in one list.

  2. 02

    Add your UPS contract

Use the UPS account you already have. Add PostNL, DHL, DPD, GLS, FedEx or Bpost beside it.

  3. 03

    Write the carrier rules

For example UPS Standard to France, and another carrier for a light parcel in the Netherlands.

  4. 04

    Ship and send tracking

Labels are created, tracking updates go out, and returns stay in the same portal.

On a demo

What should you confirm on a UPS demo?

On a UPS demo Zineps reviews your contract, your routes and the parts that are not published as live facts: box presets, held labels, Access Point and estimate versus invoice comparison.

What the demo covers

Your setup, not a sample invoice

Four questions to open with your own orders

  • Order import from Shopify, WooCommerce, bol.com and Amazon
  • Labels on your own UPS contract, with carrier rules
  • Tracking updates and a returns portal
  • Box presets, held labels, Access Point and invoice comparison, reviewed for your setup

The public page can explain why a measured box can bill heavier than the catalogue size. It cannot know your UPS divisor, your surcharges or which Access Point options your contract allows.

Bring a recent invoice and a week of orders. On the demo we look at one real parcel and say which of the extra checks apply to your account.

Example routing rules

    UseUPS Standard

  2. 02 IfCustomer paid for express

    UseFastest carrier on the account

  3. 03 IfLight parcel inside the Netherlands

UseAnother carrier that arrives on time

  4. 04 IfCustomer chose a collection point

UseReviewed on a demo before it is passed to UPS

Reviewed on a demo. Box presets, a label held for a missing box size, Access Point passthrough and an estimate versus invoice report are reviewed on a demo for your setup. Example rules for one order. Not a live volume.

The size weight example uses a divisor of 5,000 and a 45 by 30 by 16 cm box, which counts as 4.3 kg. That is an illustration of the formula, not a UPS tariff and not a price. Check your own contract.

04

Can I use my own UPS contract?

Yes. Bring your own UPS contract and the labels are created on that account. If you do not have a contract yet, a demo can cover an introduction to a logistics partner. Pricing for each route is confirmed there, not on this page.

05

Does Zineps support Access Point, box presets or invoice comparison?

Access Point passthrough, box presets, labels held for a missing box size, and a report that compares the label estimate with the UPS invoice are reviewed on a demo for your contract and country. They are not published here as a feature that is already live for every shop.

06

Why can the UPS invoice be higher than the label?

Often because UPS billed a different weight or size than the label declared. Carriers commonly bill the greater of scale weight and size weight, and they measure parcels in their network. Later charges can add to the total. Comparing an estimate with the invoice is something we review on a demo with your own data.
